DNA chip 70k SNPs to develop an accurate SNP parentage assignment panel for the black lipped pearl oyster (Pinctada margaritifera)
Develop parentage assignment panels using genetic fingerprinting of pearl oysters for use in commercial hatcheries and research to manage pedigrees in order to limit the risks of loss of genetic variability and increased inbreeding of commercial lines.

- Statement
- A SNP chip of 75K SNPs was previously developed (Ramciotti products) with a total of 69,514 SNPs retained. This chip takes advantage of the genomic resources on P. margaritifera that includes genetic diversity markers across Polynesia (N = 44,867), sex markers (N = 884) as well as SNPs associated with color (N = 99) and SNPs associated with genes differentially expressed (DEG) under thermal stress between the Gambier population and Marquises as well as SNPs identified de novo from RNAseq public datasets (N = 23,664). The first validation of the markers and the tools has been to identify putative related individuals and parent-offspring pedigree using multi-parental spawning datasets. This should serve in supporting further genomic selection programs in French Polynesia. Analysis of genotyping results and proposal of SNP marker panels adapted to different populations or uses.
